Occurrence of the local Bus was a first step to formation of architecture of the PC with the several Buss having different bandwidth. The local Bus did not replace with itself ISA or EISA, and supplemented them at the expense of several (no more than three) sockets of the local Bus. Bus VL-bus allows such peripheral devices as videoadapters and controllers of stores, to work with clock frequency up to 66 MHz. She represents the bidirectional 32-bit Bus of the data with theoretical bandwidth of 160 Mb per second (at frequency of the Bus of 50 MHz) and 107 Mb per second at frequency of 33 MHz.

VL-bus Is, as a matter of fact, expansion of the Bus of 80386 and 80486-th processor. As the devices connected to VL-bus, controllers of stores, videoadapters and network cards act. Structurally VL-bus represents a short socket such as MCA (112 contacts), established behind of sockets of expansion ISA or EISA. Thus 32 lines are used for data transfer and 30 — for transfer of the address.
